Tip 80: Plan Ahead to Check Out Popular Tours

To avoid major disappointment, plan ahead to check out popular sites or tours at your travel destination. If you’re unsure of the top activities at your
planned destination, check out TripAdvisor in advance of your travels. If daily tickets are limited for the excursion of your choice, considering ordering them online before you leave. You can then build the rest of your schedule around your anticipated excursion. Trust me, you don’t want to miss Pearl Harbor, Alcatraz or La Sagrada Familia!

Tip 79: Use the Designated Cell Phone Lots at Airports

We love picking up our friends and loved ones from the airport. However, it can be tricky perfectly timing our arrival at the airport with their stepping out onto the curb with their bags. To ensure a timely pickup without the need for our guests to wait, check out the designated cell phone lots.

Most airports now have spacious, designated parking spots in near proximity to the passenger pick up area. They’re safe, convenient and there is no need to keep circling the airport. If you’re lucky, you may even find a public restroom available while you wait!

Tip 77: Have copies of Passport

Luckily we haven’t needed it yet, but we scan and email ourselves copies of our passports before a big trip.

My parents like to take physical copies with them, but I have decided electronic copies are ok for now.

What has worked best for you? Have you found this helpful in the event a passport is stolen or lost?

Tip 76: Ask the hotel for available upgrades

You don’t know what is possible until you ask. When checking in, see if there are options to upgrade for a better view. Often there is a cost, and you might find it’s not worth it. But sometimes the upgrades are complementary so it never hurts to ask!

Why miss out on the beach view, if you can help it!
