All airlines, hotels, airports, etc now have Twitter and they usually monitor it something fierce.
Before you waste a lot of time standing in line to rebook a flight, as a example, hop on Twitter and send the airline customer service a note. In our experience the issue was resolved 2x faster than waiting in a physical line at the airport.
Go digital!
When traveling, it is easy to get out of our routine and skip meals. Breakfast tends to be an easy one to skip, but there are drawbacks and it can make your travels difficult if you are hungry or get rushed to find your next meal.
Consider passing on the hotel breakfast one day, especially if it is not included, and go to a local café. This is a favorite past-time when traveling places like New York City and Europe. Check out a small café…they are almost literally on every street. You will get a feel for the city and what it is like to live there. It’s also a fun way to take in some people watching!
We use our devices for everything! Don’t be stuck with a device that is down to 5% power with no charging station in sight. Portable chargers are small, inexpensive and can be a lifesaver when you’re lost and need Google Maps for directions.

I admit I am mostly a consumer of digital content these days and mostly rely on podcasts and Google searches to learn about areas I am traveling to. Still there is a huge benefit to travel books and maps..I love maps! So while we have previously suggested ebooks and related apps, this tip is all about the good old fashion page turner.
Have you considered borrowing travel books rather than buying them? Honestly I hadn’t as I regularly buy the cheapest, newest used book I can find on Amazon, but recently my son wanted to spend a rainy afternoon wondering around the library…and I wasn’t about to discourage that. I was surprised at how many travel books, magazines and videos were available for loan at our local library. We’ll definitely be back soon!
