This may sound like super odd advice, but I was so thankful the cruise line gave us a heads up before we disembarked at Cuba. Sadly most charter buses (cruise excursions, included) and restaurants in Cuba did not have toilet paper. Also, many tourist stops and restaurants charged a dollar for access to a bathroom. Best to be prepared and carry a roll with you!
Tip 59: Download Entertainment for your Travels
Depending on your mode of transportation, movies or TV shows may be available during your trip. However, there is no guarantee that you’ll like the options provided. To help the trip go by faster, download your favorite programs to your laptop, tablet or phone before you leave. Movies can be rented for as little as 99 cents from your favorite online provider and results in hours of entertainment. If you decide to not watch a rented movie that you downloaded, it may be available for up to 30 days for you to watch later.
Tip 58: Choosing the Right Seat on the Airplane
Planning to sleep on the entire flight? If so, secure a window seat so that you don’t block others from exiting into the aisle. No one likes to be awaken just so a passenger can move around. No one likes to wake a sleeping stranger either. Want to move around the plane during the flight? Reserve an aisle seat.
Tip 57: Check into Flights in Advance
Today, airlines provide multiple ways to check into flights including via mobile apps. Most airlines will allow customers to check in up to 24 hours in advance of their departure. Don’t wait until you’re at the airport to check in. Airlines can oversell their flights and give away your seat if you don’t check in by their prescribed time.
Tip 54: Travel with Non-Perishable Snacks When Flying
Parents know the importance of packing snacks when traveling with children. However, we don’t heed the same advice when traveling solo. Although snacks are available for purchase at the airport and in the airplane, there is no guarantee that you’ll have time to stop and shop or that your preferred snacks will be available. Unexpected travel delays happen and being hangry doesn’t help anyone. Have at least two non-perishable snacks with you- the more protein, the better.
